Mental Health Professional

We are currently seeking a mental health professional to join our team of dedicated employees. Must meet qualifications to be identified as a Mental Health Professional per ESF WACs. Preference for those already licensed in the state of Washington as a LICSW, LASW, or LMHC. MHP must have sound physical and mental health and be willing to work with others in a cooperative and respectful manner.  CPR and First Aid training required. De-escalation training and ESF educational requirements must be maintained. This includes obtaining the Mental Health, Dementia, and Developmental Disability Specialty trainings.

Orientation:  A work orientation period, with pay, for each new employee will be provided.  This orientation period will place emphasis on understanding the principles of Upriver Place, ESFs, resident independence, individuality, privacy, choice, and decision-making abilities.  The training period will also address the standard of professionalism necessary in the delivery of services to residents.

General Conditions of Employment:  A pleasant, positive, quiet, and mature attitude will be required to prevent anxiety or insecurity in the residents, as well as a high degree of professionalism in order to direct care giving staff, collaborate with the nurses and other MHPs, and to implement the resident care plans (Person-Centered Service Plan and Comprehensive Assessment) and Behavioral Support Plans. The MHP will be the primary provider of crisis intervention for residents; a working knowledge of crisis intervention skills and coordination with the local Crisis Response Services is desired.  A high standard of neatness and personal cleanliness is required. Position will require workdays as scheduled by CEO/Administrator to comply with ESF standard of 8 hours per day Mental Health Professional. On-call coverage may be requested by Administrator and based on ESF requirements.  Duties will vary according to shifts and schedules and may be adjusted or revised from CEO/Administrator to implement any changes that may affect Upriver Place ESF policy and/or the quality of resident care.


Responsibilities:

  • To maintain the highest standards of professional care as required by respective mental health license.

    To comply with Washington State regulations as required for our Enhanced Service facility.

  • To exhibit exceptional mental health skills and interpersonal skills necessary for satisfactory job performance and coordination as a member of the multi-disciplinary team at Upriver Place ESF.

  • ·To orientate new staff in the principles of Enhanced Service Facility, Behavioral Support needs of each resident and to assist all staff in the implementation of the resident Behavioral Support Plans as appropriate to their scope or license.

  • ·To perform regular assessments on residents as required and necessary, perform pre-assessments on prospective residents as directed by Administrator, maintain and implement Behavioral Support Plans including making appropriate updates when there is a change of condition.  

  • When assisting residents in the facility, MHP to ensure all safety measures will be observed and followed per Assessments and Behavioral Support plans.

  • Develop and maintain a professional working relationship with residents, nurses, physicians, mental health professionals, and any other resident providers while keeping them well informed of residents’ conditions and progress as needed.

  • Report any resident change of condition or decompensation to Administrator.

  • Assist with medication changes, and facilitate residents needs around psych. medications-- supporting residents with education and assist as needed.

  • Notify next-of-kin or responsible person when there are changes in residents’ condition, and accident or and incident- along with administrative direction.

  • Assist facility staff when resident calls for health care services, and to ascertain that residents’ health care needs are being met- along with Upriver Place staff.

  • Complete behavioral assessments on each resident regarding their condition and medication service-- communication between all behavioral support team as needed.

  • Help facilitate dietary needs and communication with contracted kitchen for individual resident needs- along with the Behavioral support team.

  • Support caregiving staff in implementing best practice and resident-specific behavioral support and interpersonal interaction when needed.

  • Complete all continuing education as required for the ESF and professional license.

  • Facilitate daily group activities with the collective interest of the residents.

  • Encourage and support residents to engage in independent or self-directed activities that are appropriate to the ESF setting, consistent with the resident assessed interest, choices, functional ability, preferences and individual treatment plan

Shifts Available:

  • Due to licensing restrictions a MHP is required to be onsite 24x7. Therefore, we are hiring multiple MHP’s.
