Caregiver

We are in search for compassionate, energetic, and motivated caregiver that will assist our residents.
Experience in mental health, with nursing or hospital orientation is preferred but not required.  NAC certificate preferred.  Individuals must have sound physical and mental health and be willing to work with others in a cooperative and respectful manner.  CPR and First Aid training required. NAR must maintain and show proof of being “grand-fathered in” per state specifications.

Orientation:  A work orientation period, with pay, for each new employee will be provided.  This orientation period will place emphasis on understanding the principles of the enhanced services facility, independence, individuality, privacy, choice, and decision-making abilities.  The training period will also address the standard of professionalism necessary in the delivery of services to residents. All caregivers will be required to receive specialty training in de-escalation, Mental Health, Dementia, and Developmental Disabilities upon hire.

General Conditions of Employment:  A pleasant, positive, quiet and mature attitude will be required to prevent anxiety or insecurity in the residents.  A high standard of neatness and personal cleanliness is required.  Positions will require workdays as scheduled by the Administrator to fit the foregoing criteria. Caregivers with a valid driver’s license will be expected to transport clients to appointments and facility led activities as designated by the administrator.

Duties:  Duties will vary according to shifts and schedules and may be adjusted or revised from time to time by the administrator.  Type of duties include:

  • Assisting residents with any or all the activities of daily living, as necessary and prescribed in residents’ service plan.

  • Encouraging residents to participate in daily activities.

  • Assisting residents in personal hygiene grooming as requested by the resident or identified in their service plan.

  • Responding promptly to various needs of residents as required.

  • Responding immediately to emergency requests and call light/pager alert(s).

  • Keep nurses and administrators informed in all aspects of residents’ physical health condition.

  • Keep MHPs and administrators informed in all aspects of residents’ mental health conditions.

  • Housekeeping of residents’ rooms, common areas, and nurses’ station, as well as changing linens.

  • Helping with the serving of meals to residents at mealtimes.

  • Assisting with or facilitating activities of interest to the residents. This may include taking them into the community.

  • Working together with the nurses and MHPs to provide meaningful activity and/or interaction to residents based on the resident’s preference.

  • Transporting or arranging transportation for residents to appointments

  • Being alert to any resident who states he or she is not feeling well or is behaving in an unusual manner.

  • Providing competent care as needed.

  • Taking vital signs as needed.

  • Checking each resident at the beginning and end of each shift.

  • Respecting the confidentiality of information about residents and residents’ rights, and preserving residents’ dignity.

  • Attendant will perform other duties as directed by the supervisor. 

Shifts Available: (Full & Part Time)

  • Days (6:00AM-2:00PM), Eve (2:00PM-10:00PM) or NOC (10:00PM-6:00AM)
